Ever Tried 100% Natural Organic Sunscreen?

Updated: Jul 4, 2020

Here Are My Personal Reasons For Using 100% Natural Organic Sunscreen With Non-Nano Mineral UV Filters

My son is very intolerant to mineral based sun screens and it's no surprise as I am as well. For the last 20 years or more I have always used natural sunscreen but if my little one was at nursery and they had run out of our own sunscreen he would come home in a real state. Itchy, red, sore and angry!

Sometimes he reacted to the ingredients however, a lot of the time those pore clogging, heavy products really caused his Prickly Heat to flare up. Prickly Heat is a condition which can occur in both adults and children when sweat becomes trapped under the skin. Prickly heat is sometimes called sweat rash.

One of my natural go to sunscreens of choice has to be Weleda Edelweiss Sun care range, I can't personally recommend it highly enough. Before using natural sun care products my son and I were persistently covered in red itchy blisters.

What are mineral-based sunscreens? Mineral-based sunscreens reflect the sun’s rays like countless small mirrors to protect the skin from sunburn. They contain particles of minerals such as titanium dioxide and zinc oxide, which can be used in different sizes to physically block the sun’s UV rays. When the average size of these mineral particles is between 1 and 100 nanometres (1 nanometre = 1 billionth of a metre), they are referred to as nanoparticles, which are invisible on the skin.

Why is natural protection visible? These countless small mirrors - the mineral non-nano UV filters that reflect sunlight - are larger than 1 nanometre, and therefore visibly reflect sunlight. Weleda has deliberately refrained from using chemical or nano-sized UV filters and have developed mineral NATRUE-certified sunscreens to offer an alternative. So when mineral-based sunscreen is applied, it leaves a whitish sheen. The higher the sunscreen formulation’s sun protection factor (SPF), the more prominently it whitens the skin. For babies and toddlers – who should wear sunscreen with a high SPF – this effect is not necessarily a drawback: parents can immediately see whether their children still have enough sunscreen on their skin and spot the areas of the skin that have not yet been covered. Weleda sunscreens are active immediately upon application, are waterproof and offer reliable and high UV protection -even for sensitive skin types and delicate baby skin.

I also love the Weleda after sun, it's extremely nourishing and really compliments the highly effective natural, organic sun care range.

Right now you can purchase an amazing lucky dip selection of the brilliant Weleda Edelweiss sun care from the temporary link on my website. The cost of the contents is £70.00 but right now you can experience them for yourself at just £15.00
